Brooklyn Bridge, to Jay Street north of the Manhattan Bridge. The north and southern parts of the park include the Empire-Fulton Ferry that was previously operating; Main Street Parks; the historic Fulton Ferry Landing; and Piers 6 and 7, which have a variety of play areas and residential developments. The park includes Empire Stores and the Tobacco Warehouse, two 19th-century structures. They make up the Brooklyn Waterfront Greenway, a vast system of bike trails and parks throughout Brooklyn.
The park’s initial area, Pier 1, opened in 2010. The park’s location was an industrial waterfront owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. After the city and state agreed in 2002, plans for the park’s location and financing began. The first phase, completed in 2007, included the demolition of a warehouse located beneath the Brooklyn Bridge. Since the start of Pier 1, many other areas of the park have been completed. At the end of July, the park was one-third finished. There are disputes and lawsuits about different Brooklyn Bridge Park elements, such as residential development for the building to finance the construction. H&A Power Washing
